Education/ Prot gear: The risk of commotio cordis could possibly be reduced through educating players of certain sports in tactics to reduce the deadly chest impact. Chest protectors and vests are designed to reduce trauma, but do not offer much protection from commotio cordis. Teaching young batters to turn away from the ball, and encouraging lacrosse/ hockey players to avoid using their chest as a defense is helpful.
