A member asked:

I saw a doctor a month ago took antibiotics, he suspected i had strep again. still have swollen red tonsils only, is it still strep or something else?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can recheck: Such throat symptoms can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed again), a cold or influenza or mono (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor again if throat symptoms are bothersome, recurrent, or don't return to normal quickly. Sexually transmitted throat infections are possible if having oral sex.
