Many causes: After 2 weeks, it is appropriate to get an assessment. Many viral infections can cause a cough that lasts more than two weeks, but one would also think of cough variant asthma, whooping cough/pertussis, walking pneumonia or other lower respiratory infection. Depending on fever and exam, treatments may involve albuterol by inhaler or neb, antibiotics, and/or steroids.
