M genitalium: No, more prolonged treatment would not help. The strains of Mycoplasma genitalium resistant to doxycycline will not respond to doxycycline no matter how much or how long it is taken. Moxifloxacin is the recommended treatment in most cases, but only when lab tests have shown for sure MG is present.
