No: If you have optic nerve atrophy, it is unrelated to anxiety levels.

Not directly: Optic nerve atrophy is always serious and the mechanisms and actual cause might remain poorly understood. If non-specific inflammation is the cause that might involve as well brain tissue and conceivably cause severe panic. In other words your symptoms may have a common root.

I just received results from an MRI and was wondering about what the heterogeneous abnormal term means: "severe atrophy of the right optic nerve within its cisternal and intraocular divisions, with heterogeneous abnormal signal throughout the nerve."
Is orthopnea (to the point you need to prop up on pillows in order to sleep at night) ever caused by acid reflux &/or severe, chronic stress & anxiety? To be clear: it's definitely orthopnea, not a panic attack, although I have plenty of those, too?
