Yes: If you talk to your provider, this should not be an issue. Although xanax is OK, your provider may choose ativan or valium. The meds work in similar fashion. Ativan and Valium are longer acting .

Anxioltyic meds: You may not require a benzodiazapine during this time of stress. There are safer options that can be used as needed or on a regular basis.
