Cryptosporidiosis: Recovery from cryptosporidium infection depends largely upon the immune status of the host. Immunologically healthy patients usually have a spontaneous recovery within a few weeks and parasitologic cure within a few months without requiring any specific therapy. Nitazoxanide for children has been proven to be effective. For immunocomprimised patients, treatment varies.

Cryptosporidiosis: Cryptosporidiosis is usually treated with hydration. Sometimes anti-diarrheal meds are used or even Nitazoxanide. Dx: acid-staining test of stool or biopsied intestinal tissue & enzyme immunoassays for antigens.
