Parasite: This is a parasite which causes diarrhea in human. People are effected by contaminated water but it is very treatable.

Cryptosporidiosis : is caused by infection w cryptosporidium parasites. They embed in small intenstine walls. Sx's usually begin 2 to 10 days after exposure (ave of 7 days) w watery diarrhea, abdominal pain/cramps, nausea, vomiting, fever, weight loss & dehydration that resolve w/in 1 to 2 wks. Cryptosporidium dx: via acid-staining test of stool or biopsied intestinal tissue & enzyme immunoassays for antigens.
