Cryptosporidium: This is a protozoan parasite. Cysts from the parasite are transmitted by fecal-oral route. In 7 to 10 days the organism matures and causes symptoms. For people with normal immune system this is usually a limiting diarrhea. For people who are immunocompromized the infection can involve the bile duct and live.
