Is it normal to feel mild sharp/throbbing pain 8 days post-surgery as well as some inflammation? wound looks okay, no fever.

Somewhat: difficult to answer depending on the type of surgery and your activity level. If major surgery and your activity level has increased then it is likely due to that and is a reminder to slow down. If you have significant pain and/or are simply anxious by all means call the operating surgeon and discuss.
