A member asked:

Went to new facility and breast surgeon stated only annual mri because believes mammo is useless since i have extremely dense tissue...but now there is a hold on mri reading until i get mammo done, stated that is hospital radiology policy, why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mamo first: Mammograms are usual first option. Contrary to what you wrote MRI may be needed for someone with dense breasts.
