A member asked:

My 4 day old granddaughter is passing flatus and no stool following closure/repair to an exomphalos. is this normal and for how long? she is breastfed

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some basics: Breast fed babies can pass a little stool every time they are fed or a cradle filler once a week. passing flatus is a good sign the gut is functioning & open from one end to the other, so I would not consider this unusual.
