Back pain: It's not possible to diagnose a bulging or herniated disc from that symptom. Extension of your spine bringing on the pain is more likely due to musculoskeletal causes especially if the discomfort is in the midline of the back. Radiation of pain toward your buttock and leg would be more characteristic of disc disease.

Back pain : Back pain into extension is most likely facet syndrome. The back joints compress and cause pain. This is often a result of pre-existing flattening or degenerative discs. The diagnoses for certain will come from a good physical examination from an experienced spinal health provider. I suggest a chiropractor, doctor of physical medicine or osteopathic provider who specializes in spinal care.
