A member asked:

Can a cervical polyp or ectropion affect fertility? one or the other was noticed at my last pap and i plan to start trying to conceive soon.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Preconception : Ectropion is just the endocervical canal slightly visible at the cervical opening and a polyp is an overgrowth of that same tissue. Neither is worrisome although both conditions can cause unpredictable or post coital spotting. Nothing to do for the ectropion but you should have the polyp removed. Neither will effect fertility.
