A member asked:

Can i take spironolactone once a month and progesterone 3 times a year? will spironolactone be as effective? 3x year bleeding enough for healthy womb?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Missed Periods: Spironolactone and progesterone are given for different problems. Progesterone is given to women missing periods to avoid heavy, uncontrolled bleeding and the development of abnormal endometrium. Spironolactone is given to counteract androgens (testosterone-like hormones). They have different uses. Withdrawal bleeding from progesterone for missing periods 3-4 times a year will avoid these problems
