It's not clear why: Females are treated more frequently for almost all the emotional conditions than are guys (whereas aggressive disorders & add, among others, are more prevalent in males). It may be that women are more likely to seek care. It may be that body image, and weight lose, are more likely to be issues. Society may put more pressure on females in matters related to eating & body.

I have a theory: It seems like women are the nurturers, the communicators, & the expressors of emotion. From an evolutionary standpoint, it may be that they have been "wired" to internalize & spread feelings more than males for the mental health of the tribe (while the guys are out spearing mammoths). Men are about everything external. Women are more susceptible to internal struggles like this, because of genetics.
