Oral surgeon: Although this is a benign condition and many with it have no symptoms, areas of the tongue may be sensitive to certain foods and spices. Special cortisone type creams suitable for mouth use may help. Bathing the tongue in maalox or glyoxide could be tried. Seeing an oral surgeon or going to an oral pathology department at a dental school are other suggestions.
