Ortho Spine: Sure; a well trained orthopaedic surgeon, typically with a spine fellowship can perform this without a problem. Do your research on that particular doctor, and if things check out ok, it should be a successful! good luck!

Yes: I agree with dr. Poelstra - make sure the surgeon has additional spine surgery training, and does many spine surgery procedures. The same would be recommended for a neurosurgeon doing spine surgery.

Hopefully, your primary care doctor can help to point you in the right direction. The most important thing to do is to make sure that the surgeon you choose has expertise in treating your problem.
