Some basics : There is a row of normal pimple looking glands at the back/base of the tongue. If there are sores on his tongue these can become coated with debris. Most tongue sores represent viral issues that eventually self heal. The primary focus of management is assuring proper fluid intake to prevent dehydration. Ice chips/cold fluids/ lozenges all help.
