A member asked:

Can a person get oral herpes symptoms after hours or a day after exposure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Oral herpes?: Herpes I and II are very contagious but symptoms a "day after exposure" may occur from previous contact, not the current one. Stress, either emotional or job related, etc., may cause coincidental activation of latent herpes virus, causing a painful oral ulcer, which would have appeared in any case after your "recent contact", but not because of this contact.
