Pain: If it's not from a recent injury, possibilities include scapula pathology, pinching of nerve root by a bone spur or bulging disc at a vertebra in the upper back, pinched intercostal nerve or muscle that runs between 2 ribs, right lung pathology or rib strain from exercise, housework or occupation. If symptoms persist, I recommend seeing your MD for examination. An xray will probably be ordered.
