Irritation: An irritation to the eyelid can cause a bump. Allergies, infections, irritants can all cause the symptoms you describe. If it is compromising your vision, or you have signs of infection (redness, swelling, warmth, pus etc) then you need to be seen right away. Either way an ophthalmologist should evaluate you.

Lid bump: You probably have a chalazion. Treatment is warm compresses. Should see ophthalmologist if persists more than 2 weeks.
