Exam needed: The symptoms may not be interrelated. Neck and arm discomfort may be due to nerve impingement at a nerve root by a spur or bulging disc in the neck. Sharp chest pains can be caused by pinched intercostal nerve or muscle in the rib cage. A physician will take a thorough history, perform a physical examination and order appropriate tests in order to make a diagnosis and advise you.
