PCOS: is most likely caused by insulin resistance. Not all features of PCOS are present in every patient with PCOS. Consider asking for further testing such as glucose insulin ratios, on a 3 Hr glucose tolerance test, looking for insulin resistance. Treating improves ovulation function, and helps medications like clomid to induce ovulation.

Possible : It is quite possible you may have insulin resistance because both PCOS and insulin resistance goes side by side ,Make sure you get the blood work done to see if you need metformin

PCO: It's good to understand that PCO is more of a whole body issue (hence metabolic syndrome) than just a Gynecologic problem. Gynecologist tend to see and manage it because the irregular cycles are the only outward manifestation of it but all the other issues (insulin resistance, high cholesterol, etc) are silent and must be sought and managed separately. Have a talk wit your GYN about PCO.
