A member asked:

How can doctors differentiate if a teenager has symptoms due to pcos or if it is "hypergonadism"? while pcos is common, how common is hypergonadism?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hypergonadism ??: PCOS is a clinical condition which affects mentstrual cycles, inhibition of ovulation is the result, with delayed or absent menstruation. It is unclear what is meant by "hypergonadism" unless higher blood levels of androgens is involved. See your teenager's gyn with her and get appropriate testing done.
