Local issue: Rabies post-exposure treatments are influenced by local factors. Local county health departments keep track of regional rabies findings in various animals & the often changing recommendations for treatment. If there are no affected animals in the region for months they would be less aggressive than if there were some found. I would contact them or a local ER for current practices.
