A member asked:

Is it required to take a rabies vaccine if a very young stray kitten scratches me slightly , drawing little blood? ( the kitten cannot be monitored)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Recommended: Rabies is very common in India and prevention after exposure is the only protection, as there are no treatments for active rabies. Transmission is usually from saliva, but since animals do lick their paws, scatches can also be infectious. Too bad the cat cannot be monitored. In the US, rabies in cats vs dogs is about 4:1.
