Consult doctor: The main concern with taking these two medications together is that they are both sedating, and it is possible to be dangerously over-sedated. Also, these medications may interact with other medications that are being taken. So, it may make sense to take them together, but not without consulting the doctor that prescribed them. Yes: Hydroxyzine and lorazepam do not affect one another directly. If needed, a person may take them at roughly the same time. Both drugs may cause drowsiness and, together, they may cause even more than each one taken separately. The first time she tries them together, it would be a good idea to avoid driving or operate heavy machinery until she knows how they affect her.
