"gum pain": Unless there is an ulcer problem, a better anti-inflammatory would be any commercial form of ibuprofen. If the pain persists beyond another week, see your dentist to removed the wisdom tooth to check for infection/abscess.

Gum pain: Midol (Naproxen) will block pain sensation, but Ibuprofen is more effective. It is mildly concerning that a week post-surgery you still require an analgesic. Call the Dentist or Oral Surgeon that removed the tooth and explain your situation. They may want to see you to check healing and rule out infection.
