Periods of lumber pain,travel down leg.slipped disc sym but only last 5-7days&pain only when i move.sit or lay still stops pain. any ideas what it is?

MRI: An MRI of your lumbosacral spine would probably demonstrate a bulging or herniated intervertebral disc pressing on a nerve root. Apparently it is affected by positional factors. If symptoms persist more than 6 weeks, my rule of thumb is that some treatment such as physical therapy,epidural corticosteroid injections or disc surgery is needed. Agree with Dr. C: You may take acetaminophen for the pain, do not take more than 4 gm/day, do not take alcohol. Do not restrict your activities. Do not be in hurry to get intervention, other than physical therapy.
