Modify appropriately: May check if pain is associated with food and eliminate specific food/drink. Also check if associated with cough or position and modify appropriately. There are many OTC anti-acids like Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids, Tums... H2 blockers like Tagamet & Pepsid or PPI's like Omeprazole... One can try one or the other of these while waiting for GI consult. Improved or not still keep appointment
