Physician visit: The baby may have irritation of the stomach lining or esophagus. Other causes include a bleeding disorder, upper airway sources.

Some basics: The blood must come from some tissue that is irritated/torn. If you are breast feeding it can be from a broken blood vessel within your breast. If not, the babies gums, throat, or swallow tube would be a likely source. Sometimes if they vomit hard they can have a slight bloody mucus from the upper airway/mouth. If it persists see the doc to sort it out.
