A member asked:

If someone's being treated for gonorrhoea, do they have to get new towels to prevent reinfection? if they had throat gonorrhoea, a new toothbrush?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Get a new toothbrush: Usually direct sexual contact, such as vaginal, oral or anal sex, is required to bring the infection in touch with a receptive surface. Most STDs cannot be spread from person to person through contact with toilet seats, swimming pools, hot tubs, shared clothing, door knobs, eating utensils, but good idea to replace the toothbrush.
