A member asked:

I have sore throat and bad breath and mild pain in throat and ear if i try to swallow and my front neck is warm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pharyngitis: This throat infection can cause referred pain to the ear. A viral cause is more common than a bacterial strep infection. At this time I recommend resting, gargling with warm salt water and/or throat lozenges. Take Tylenol. If symptoms don't gradually improve or if ear discomfort worsens, you will need to be examined and a rapid throat culture for strep taken and a middle ear examination needed.
