I accidentally poked 6 week old in eye w/ my fingernail few days ago visible scratch. will this make him blind? feel awful

Where: A scratch along/within the white surface of the eyeball would be uncomfortable but would not interfere with vision. Any scratch over the clear cornea would be quite painful & should be followed/treated by their doc or an ophthalmologist since these can scar.
