No risk, no worry: Nobody is known to have caught HIV by exposure of a pre-existing cut. All injury-related HIV infection have occurred in healh professionals injured by sharp instruments contaminated with HIV. Most HIV experts would not have prescribed PEP in this situation. However, if PEP doesn't work, it might prolong the time to a positive test. You;re probably fine, but have a final test 3 mo. after the event.
