Some basics: If the swelling is a change & painful it may mean that germs have invaded the breast ducts & are starting an infection. Consider using a warm compress to increase blood flow in the area that might allow it to self heal. If it continues,becomes reddened or drains see your doc. It may require an antibiotic or other treatment.
