Patellar Pain: The underside of the patella, or knee-cap, can become painful due inflammation caused by friction as it glides over the femur, or thigh bone when the powerful muscles of the thigh contract to bend and extend the leg. A past history of injury can predispose the patella to repeat friction and inflammation, but often this problem can be secondary to poor shoe wear or problems with the feet.
