Quad tendon: Just above the knee cap (patella) is the insertion of the quad tendon, so likely what you are experiencing is distal quadriceps tendonitis. This can be treated with relative rest (i.e. Avoid aggravating activites), anti-inflammatory meds (ie advil), ice/heat. Sometimes a neoprene knee sleeve helps. If symptoms persist after a couple weeks, get evaluated for possible more extensive pathology.
