Dry cough for 2 days. This morning woke up with fever and worse cough. It's dry, slightly hacking/barky and hurts in my windpipe. What could it be?

Just took a clindamycin capsule. It took me a few try to get it down so it was already soft. I finally was able to swallow it I started to cough. Im not sure if the pill or some of my drink went down my windpipe. Would I have choked if it was pill?
I accidentally inhaled a singular rice into what I think was my windpipe. I didnt cough, gag, or feel like I was choking but I assume thats because a rice is so small and probably wont block the airway. Does that mean the rice is stuck in my lung?
If food or piece of gum go down your windpipe, would you cough immediately or can something go down with out you coughing at all
