A member asked:

5 yr old has pneumonia in both lungs & is taking antibiotics.. last night his temp was 95 & he was sweating a lot. is it normal or can it be sepsis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neither: Sepsis is often fatal, so I'll presume that's not what is going on. If you are checking a skin temp while the child is sweating, you are merely getting his cooled off skin temp. Always check a reliable temp, like axillary or rectal to confirm when you are concerned by a skin temp. If your child truly has a core temp of 95, call 911
