Probably yes: Most people have caught herpes cold sore viruses by adulthood, and get a cold sore once in a while. They heal up, and the discoloration disappears in a couple of months. If a person gets them frequently or gets big sores when she gets them, her doctor can evaluate. For herpes sores, preventive daily medication can keep them away. Otherwise, using medication only during sores can be effective too.
