A member asked:

When you stop taking bisoprolol, would it take a while for your heart to adapt? what would be a "normal" heart rate, resting and with brisk walking.

Heart rates: Once beta blockers are discontinued their effects at slowing the sinus node cease within a day in my experience. Normal resting heart rates vary among people from the 50/minute up to 80. The same occurs with exercise. Many people can't even get their heart rate over 100 during a treadmill stress test despite being on it over 15 minutes. That said, 72 at rest, 90 with brisk walk sounds average

See below: Bisoprolol affects the body for about 24 hours. The average heart rate ranges from 60-100 beats per minute when resting. (Resting means after 5 min of sitting and at least 30 min after exercise.) After brisk walking, a moderate activity, heart rate will be approximately 83-145 beats per minute for your age group.
