"V-P shunt": A shunt for hydrocephalus may obstruct during non-pregnant or pregnant circumstances. Since headaches and nausea will occur when a V-P shunt becomes blocked, a CT scan may be necessary in pregnancy (with proper shielding for the fetus). Consult a maternal fetal medicine expert at the Univ. of KY department of OB/GYN to be certain expertise om V-P shunts is known by your obstetric physician.
