Missing info: Endoscopy is generally reserved for chronic cases and those who fail to achieve improvement or control with an adequate (6m) trial of meds. Since you didn't provide info on prior treatment, I assume they feel they must rule out the scary pre-cancer things before settling on a course of treatment.
