It happens: Wind does not cause illness but it might blow in airborne pollen that triggers congestion. The kid can have such symptoms from a variety of exposures including house dust, fragrance, smoke, etc. . Nasal saline washout is the primary aid for congestion at that age but removal of offending triggers is the long term solution.
