My baby is two months old and a gp recently said she's colic. so far i've bought loads of medication. i googled and it said she could be lactose intolerant, the symptoms are all pointing in that direction. how do i know if she is?

Try lactose free: Colic by definition is unexplained crying for at least 3hrs/day, 3days/wk in the first 3 months. It is common & fades with age. Lactose intolerance produces acid scorching diaper rashes, lots of gas & some overlapping symptoms, but it is 24/7. Colic classically is afternoon/evening. There are lactose free formulas (soy) but breast milk has lactose.

Pediatrician exam: It is uncommon for a 2 month-old baby to be on medications, and almost never would be a 2 month-old be on "loads of medication" unless she was in the hospital for a major illness. Lactose intolerance is very rare in new babies, because they are built to eat breastmilk (breastmilk has lactose). A parent can take all the medications plus the baby to a pediatrician for more evaluation.
