Ankle Instability: A full assessment of the joints in the foot and ankle should be done along with a limb length evaluation. Ankle instability may leads to abnormal motion and inflammation where swelling occurs. Gait (walking) evaluation should also be done. Imaging may help to discover the injured tissue. The cause of the injury should be addressed and it may be biomechanical or a structural deformity.
