Good idea: The bruise that went away has no real significance in light of the fact that you cannot bear weight and have persistent swelling. Perhaps your physician referred you to ortho because of concerning MRI findings (was the MRI you listed done on your ankle?). This referral seems very appropriate, as you could require treatment for a ligamentous injury or fracture. Good luck

Yes you need to go: Bruise means bleeding. It takes a while to go away. You twisted you ankle and after several days, you still can't bear weight and you ankle still has severe swelling. All these tell me that you have suffered an ankle fracture. It is harmful to walk on a broken ankle. Doing that may cause non healing fracture and more tissue damage. Please go to orthopedics.
