A member asked:

Tetanus incubation is too short,i got td shot with 4days delay, and without tig ,i had primary series as child ,am i safe even with delay, and no tig?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on wound: The cited incubation is 3-21 days with most starting around 8. Shorter incubation is associated with more extensive & "dirty" wounds. Simple wounds that were adequately cleaned would not be a significant risk & seldom given TIG. Booster antibodies begin to appear at 4 days and peak around 2 wks. If you had no booster within the past 10 yrs or had a soil contaminated wound I would seek TIG.
